AJ Styles won the WWE Championship in November 2017 and little did fans know that his journey as champion would go on for a full-year. He had an incredible reign as champion, where he feuded with the likes of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, etc.
Though his reign was affected by many dirty finishes, overall, it was a great notch in Styles’ belt, as he became the face of the blue brand. He was such a great champion that once he lost the title, it became hard to even imagine him walking around without the WWE Championship strapped around his waist.
After his defense at Extreme Rules, Tom Phillips rightfully said: “For AJ Styles, it’s just another day as WWE Champion“. He improved tremendously as a character and performer and joined an elite club of superstars who have been WWE Champion for 365 days+.
