Mustafa Ali wasn’t even supposed to be a part of the Cruiserweight division. During the time of the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, Brazillian wrestler Zumbi wasn’t able to make it due to visa issues, and the Chicago-based Mustafa Ali took his spot. He was eliminated in the first round of the tournament but was offered a WWE contract soon after. He was there from the very first episode of 205 Live and later on became known as the heart of 205 Live.
Ali represents the evolution of athletes in pro wrestling. He’s a high flyer who’s so good that he makes it look easy. Over the course of two years, he was a part of the Cruiserweight roster and it seemed like championship glory was inevitable for him. However, it seems like he impressed the higher-ups enough that they felt he was officially added to the SmackDown Live roster as of 18th December 2018.
It’s a great opportunity for him and if you follow Ali, you know that he’s a man who stands for peace, unity and destroying stereotypes.
