Who would have thought just a year ago that Beck Lynch would end up becoming the most popular superstar on the current WWE roster, male or female? When she was the first female draft pick for SmackDown Live in 2016, things seemed to finally be looking up for her. She was clearly a fan favorite at that point, but it was clear that she was viewed backstage as more of a “third option”, with Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks clearly getting bigger pushes.
However, she forged her own path in the blue brand and became the first-ever SmackDown Women’s Champion. Although her reign only lasted 84 days, it was a piece of history that no one could take away from her. Even after she lost the title, she main evented SmackDown (being the first of two women to do so). But after this, things seemed to hit a grinding halt. For a good part of a year, she was floating directionless, hardly ever being featured in important feuds while Charlotte wound up taking her top spot on SmackDown Live.
