Jericho’s greatest year was probably 2008. It saw him reinvent his character to what many consider till date his greatest persona. He started wearing suits, developed a new attitude and added an edge to him that he had never shown before. His feud with Shawn Michaels was a heated one, with the latter’s wife even getting involved (and knocked out).
Their feud resulted in an unsanctioned match at Unforgiven 2008 in which Michaels won after beating Jericho unconscious, but as good as the match was, their ladder match at No Mercy the same year was even better. At No Mercy, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, Jericho and Michaels had an all-out war, with the match being so intense that it even ended with the two tugging onto the world title on top.
Ultimately, Jericho’s headbutt was the difference maker as he put away Michaels to retain the World title.
