#4.) TNA prevented him from retiring

It was 2010 and Austin Aries felt that wrestling simply wasn’t paying off for him. While he never admitted whether it was financial or simply a burnout, he admitted in an interview with V2 Journal that he had full intentions to retire from pro wrestling at the time and pursuing opportunities outside the business.

However, TNA then gave him a call to appear for a taping, so he thought it was more of a one-off. One thing led to another and he continued, signing a new contract with the company and even becoming X-Division Champion (a historic reign that we’ll get back to). The run was an incredible one for him, as his popularity surged and he even became World Champion the following year.

TNA/Impact Wrestling may have gotten a lot of criticism in the past but the way they dealt with Austin Aries 2011 was nothing short of incredible, even pulling the trigger on him in the right time. You can thank TNA for still seeing The Greatest Man That Ever Lived wrestle.
