#3.) vs John Cena – Great American Bash 2007
A match that often goes overlooked in both John Cena and Lashley’s career is their bout at the Great American Bash. Lashley was riding a wave of momentum after WrestleMania 23 and the follow-up feud with the McMahons. He was drafted to RAW and he soon set his sights at the WWE Championship.
Cena and Lashley main evented the PPV and put on a phenomenal match, with Lashley only further proving why he belonged in WWE’s main event scene. Cena retained and they shook hands, but Lashley suffered a legitimate injury that kept him out of action for over half a year. It was during this period that he requested a release from his contract. It truly remains as one of the biggest “what could have been” moments in the last two decades for WWE.
