Austin Aries relinquished the X-Division Championship in order to earn a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Lashley and Aries had a great dynamic together, with Lashley being the far bigger and stronger superstar of the two. The story told was about how Aries had to overcome the size difference and use his speed and agility and technical prowess to dethrone then-champion Lashley.
Aries brought the fight to Lashley in a big way, but it didn’t turn out to be enough as Lashley was on another level in his first title run.
