We mentioned that Rey Mysterio has Luchador heritage. His influence in character was not his father but his uncle, Rey Misterio Sr. He trained from a young age and made his debut at the age of 14, wrestling under different names. He would have his first opportunity with AAA, where he made a name for himself before getting the call from Paul Heyman.
Luchadors starting at a young age isn’t anything new. Even current star Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas made his debut at the age of 14. It seems that Luchadors start out young in Mexico!
