Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio had actually won the Tag Team Championship at No Way Out prior to WrestleMania. However, in a surprising move, they were pitted against each other at WrestleMania rather than with each other. It was a friendly match and a perfect opener for WrestleMania in Hollywood, as the two would blow the roof off the building.
Mysterio beat Guerrero in the opener and they shook hands. It was only later on that Guerrero turned on Mysterio and showed a darker side of himself.
