Rey Mysterio brought something completely different to the table. At 5’6, he wasn’t the tallest superstar. The odds were against him in many ways as he had to prove himself in the land of giants that is WWE. But what he may have lacked in physical stature he made up for in his unmatched luchador skills inside the ring.
While Mysterio is known for his high-flying, fast-paced action and exhilaration that he brought to the ring, what made him so popular with the WWE Universe was the heart that he displayed. He faced the greatest of all time throughout his career and on more than one occasion has beaten the odds.
In many ways, the odds he faced just wasn’t on-screen. He had to prove that he was the best to the office and do so enough for them to convince them to give him an opportunity. But there’s no denying that WWE saw money in Mysterio. This is also perhaps one of the reasons why they allowed him to wear his mask again when he joined WWE in 2002.
Since then, he and Eddie Guerrero have been the biggest Latino stars in WWE history. Till date, WWE has been trying to find successors for them. Mysterio has had some outstanding moments in WWE and these five arguably stand out as his greatest.
