2) Abyss vs Kurt Angle – Falls Count Anywhere – TNA Turning Point 2008
Kurt Angle could be at the top of a lot of short-lists for greatest wrestlers of all time but the story in this match is Abyss hanging with him every step of the way. This match feels like a fight and both men throw all they can at one another. Angle is really at the top of his game in this match and proves he had more in the tank when he departed WWE in spite of any substance abuse or injury issues.
Abyss’ frustration with being unable to pin Angle grows throughout the match and he manages to penetrate his mask with facial expressions that help tell that story. THough he comes out on the losing end, Abyss makes Angle earn it and the former Olympian looks more exhausted after these 15 minutes than he has in longer matches. A damn good match and still worth your time a decade later.
