It’s safe to say that Finn Balor’s main roster debut was one of the most anticipated ones in WWE history. After he lost his NXT title to Samoa Joe, fans had been eagerly waiting for months for Balor to debut on RAW. The anticipation built and built until the 2016 draft, where Finn Balor was announced as a first-round draft pick for Monday Night RAW. This alone put him in a special position.
Not many superstars can say that they took on the company’s top star on their debut night, but Finn Balor certainly can. In a mini-tournament announced to crown the inaugural Universal Champion at SummerSlam, Balor, on his RAW debut would first win a Fatal-4-Way before taking on Roman Reigns in a monumental match. After an incredible bout, Balor would defeat Roman Reigns clean to secure a spot at SummerSlam.
It was a triumphant debut for Balor.
