#1.) vs Trish Stratus – WrestleMania 22
The match is monumental for more than one reason. It marked the passing of the torch from Trish Stratus to Mickie James. From late 2005, James had been involved in an angle with Stratus that saw her go from obsessive fan to outright stalker. Their feud culminated at WrestleMania 22, where they had what many consider to be the best women’s match in WrestleMania (at that point of time, i.e).
The finish was quite a bizarre one, with WWE even editing out certain footage that wasn’t particularly PG. Regardless, it was the perfect passing of the torch moment and the match is looked back on as historically important and rightfully so. It marked a new era in the division. Stratus would go on to retire later that same year.
