#1.) InVasion – 2001
In the midst of the InVasion storyline, this was perhaps one of the most anticipated PPVs in WWE history, garnering a whopping 770,000 buys – the most for a non-WrestleMania event. Though the action and card may not have delivered to the level that was anticipated, the crowd was quite hot n Cleveland and fan interest was high.
There was an “anything can happen” mentality and seeing WWF superstars go at it against ECW and WCW stars was quite surreal for fans. While the storyline may have never reached the peak that fans would have hoped, InVasion certainly represents the most successful one-off PPV in WWE history.
