Katie Arquette looks back on her last year in wrestling.
Last month, Pro Wrestling Illustrated released its 2024 Women’s 250 list, which honors the top women in the professional wrestling industry. One of the names recognized this year is “The Queen of the Silver Screen” Katie Arquette.
Within the respective evaluation period, Arquette solidified her fourth reign as IWC Women’s Champion, while also building her name in singles and tag team competition. During a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Arquette shared her reaction to placing on the prestigious list at number 232.
“It meant a lot to me,” Arquette said. “I saw it, and I was kind of taken aback because I was like, ‘Wow, I finally am on this pristine list.’ Something about the PWI, it shows a lot of acknowledgement. There’s a lot of wrestlers that get missed or should be on that list too, but I feel like it is such a good acknowledgment to wrestlers that are putting in all the work.
“I feel like this year specifically has been my biggest stride. And to see that recognition and all the work that I had really put in, it really made me feel like I was on the right path. So it was definitely a really nice surprise and reminder of why I’m doing this and where I want to be.”
Proudest Performances
In looking back on her last year in wrestling, Arquette was asked about her proudest performances both from a singles and tag team standpoint. Singles-wise, Arquette pointed to a pair of battles with 17-year veteran Zoey Skye, one of which took place over the border in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
“[Zoey] and I have wrestled a lot more this year, actually, so there’s been a lot of fun things with her as always, but we ended up doing a show in Ohio at Buckeye Championship Wrestling. It was a no disqualification match. So we murdered each other, and it was amazing; it was definitely fulfilling,” Arquette recalled. “But I think aside from that, we also wrestled at Greektown [Wrestling] in Canada. I think that was her first time there. It blended so well together. Her and I have great chemistry in the ring. She’s one of my favorite frenemies of all time.
“I think that was a very rewarding match, because not only have we wrestled a million times over together, but we always remind each other why we’re doing this and how far we’ve come. I started wrestling her when I was only four months into the business, and she had been many years my senior. So I think it just goes to show how much we push each other and how much those matches really mean.”
Within the tag team realm, Arquette has primarily wrestled alongside Derek Dillinger, an 11-year veteran of the business. Together, Arquette and Dillinger make up the latest iteration of The Production.
“I think one of my favorite matches that I’ve had with Derek and I would probably be … Gabby [Forza] and Bulk Bronson. We wrestled them once at AIW. It was the first time that Derek and I had a tag match together where we really had all of the pieces in line,” Arquette said. “I feel like that was the first of many, that this is only going to get better, and it has. So I think that is probably my favorite tag match of the year, because it really solidified the foundation that we intended to build. And I we’ve done that.”
