Josh Bishop has an interesting bucket list item.
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Josh Bishop ahead of MLW Kings Of Colosseum. Bishop is new to the MLW scene, and Pritchard asked if there was a match that highlights the wrestler that Bishop wants MLW fans to see.
“Maybe me and Masato Tanaka. We had a really fun one at AIW during the JT Lightning Memorial Tournament [on] night one from [2023]. That was fun. It was just cool. I was having him give me all the sh*t. I was like, ‘Powerbomb me to the floor,’ and it was awesome. I mean, it hurts so f*cking bad, him just crushing me with chair shots,” Bishop pointed out, “but also, it’s the greatest moment of my life — this old man smashing me in the head with a chair.”
Bishop previously told Fightful that facing Tanaka was a dream match of his. Bishop wanted the match so much that he asked AIW’s John Thorne for it, something he doesn’t normally do.
“I never really asked for matches anywhere. I just kind of look on Twitter, ‘Okay, this is what I’m doing.’ But there’s a few times where I’ll hear something, I’ll be like, ‘What? I’m right here. Come on.’ But when, I heard that Masato Tanaka was coming in, I was kind of like, ‘Alright, well, who’s he gonna f*cking wrestle? I hope me. Damn.’ And so, when it got announced, I just texted Thorne and I was just like, ‘Thank you so much.’”
“I want to see how nuts he is”
Now that he has the Tanaka match on his resume, Bishop said he would love to wrestle AEW’s Hangman Adam Page. Taking it a step further, Bishop said he wants to drink Hangman Page’s blood, a callback to AEW Full Gear and his own career.
“I really want to wrestle Hangman Adam Page. I know he doesn’t even do indies, but this dude seems like he’s nuts. And I want to see how nuts he is. I want to drink his blood,” Bishop stated. “I drank Nick Gage’s blood and spit it in his face, so I’m not really afraid to drink anyone’s blood.”
Bishop will team with ‘Filthy’ Tom Lawlor to challenge The Second Gear Crew’s Matthew Justice and 1 Called Manders for the MLW World Tag Team Championship at MLW Kings Of Colosseum on January 6.
