Willow Nightingale is a big fan of Mogul Embassy leader Swerve Strickland.
All Elite Wrestling‘s Willow Nightingale recently sat down with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. When asked about potentially being involved with WrestleDream next month, Nightingale said she would love that, but she’s also excited to see the match between Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page.
“Yeah, I mean, I would love that,” Willow Nightingale admitted. “Right now, I’m very excited to see how the card is shaping up with Bryan and Zack Sabre Jr. Like from a fan perspective, I’m like, oh, man, that’s super cool. Swerve and Hangman is something I’m really excited to see.
“Swerve mentioned in one of his most recent promos something about how if he was given the opportunities that Hangman was, he would have been the first black AEW World Champion by now. And that popped me. We’ve obviously had Jade Cargill be the inaugural TBS Champion. We’ve had Nyla be the champion for the Women’s Championship, but I think it’s always really interesting to see the way that diversity plays out within the company, and any company at that.”
Swerve Is Still Smooth
Willow Nightingale would go on to shower Swerve Strickland with praise and revealed she’d been a fan of his even before his time at WWE.
“I think he is amazing,” Willow Nightingale said. “I think right now, if he’s playing the character of a horror movie villain, I think he’s doing it phenomenally. And I’ve been a fan of his since before he was even at the other company. On the indies, when I saw him at CZW before he even came out to Chaka Khan, he’s coming out to like Jackson Five ‘I Want You Back’. Just the whole time, I thought this guy was one of the best all-around wrestlers, smoothest in the ring.
Pritchard noted how Swerve’s recent promo resonated because he spoke the truth about the opportunities he could’ve gotten.
“And I think even now still applies. So I think, like you said, there’s truth to what he’s saying. If he was given the same opportunities, he would have already cashed in on them,” she noted. “And I think that’s something that with WrestleDream approaching, Full Gear approaching, those are sentiments that kind of ring true to me, right? Like, I want those same opportunities. And that’s not to say I haven’t been given any. But listen, I’m hungry for more.”
