Sasha Banks Breaks Brooklyn Curse
The Boss vs. The Goddess at SummerSlam was a pretty good match. Back and forth, this 13 minute bout was solid because both women were able to get their offense in accordingly. It felt like a struggle, with both women trading shots. Bliss performed Twisted Bliss on Banks for a near-fall. Sasha Banks locked in the Banks Statement, but Alexa battled out. Sasha was able to lock it in again in the middle of the ring, forcing Alexa to tap out and Banks claiming another championship.
I think Alexa and Sasha work really well together. It is hard to gauge this match against ones with Charlotte, but the title change came as a bit of a surprise. Alexa is consistently over like rover and Sasha is too. I think this sets up for Banks vs. Bliss for No Mercy, followed by Bayley’s inevitable return. When Bayley returns, she better come in hot and make something memorable. Her chorus of boos when shown backstage was SHOCKING. A year ago, Brooklyn LOVED Bayley. Now, she is very much forgotten as a lovable face. Work with that, creative.
The Demon King defeated Bray Wyatt
Finn Balor comes out painted up as “The Demon King.” The entrance was stellar, the match with Bray was solid and we are finally getting back the man that left us a year ago. I love Finn, do not get me wrong, but an entire year of not seeing what makes him unique was a little too long for my liking.
Let’s talk about the match, though. There was no doubt Balor would win this match, but the 10 minutes it got was confusing. I wanted to see both guys work harder, longer and with more drama to it. It was basic, which isn’t terrible, but the match itself did not bring any WOW moments to the WWE Universe. With a win tonight, I expect Balor to possibly feud a little longer with Wyatt or possibly move on to someone of a “higher” standard. There is so much talent across the board, so it is finding the right opponent to counter all that he has been able to accomplish. Tonight was a good night for the Balor Club.
