Burying Baron Corbin
He must have really pissed someone off. In the span of 5 days, Baron Corbin drops the Money in the Bank briefcase, dominates a match against John Cena at SummerSlam and actually loses it after a few offensive moves and an Attitude Adjustment. The writing is on the wall and Baron Corbin has gone from a true, original and tough heel to possibly losing all importance of his character, his gimmick and his professional career. Do we really think Baron Corbin can rebound from this? I sure hope so. He is unique, good as a heel and possesses a strong presence as soon as he walks out of the back.
John Cena should head to WWE RAW, but who should he feud with? It is too early for Roman Reigns, as that could easily be a WrestleMania match. He might have some success with Finn Balor, but I do not see much of that happening. The only smart solution would be Samoa, with both of them feuding for the next 1-2 months. Unless, WWE wants to give us Cena vs. Lesnar…AGAIN.
Natalya defeated Naomi
Talk about a surprise, as Natalya reigns supreme at SummerSlam in a match that was longer than John Cena vs. Baron Corbin. Natalya controlled most of the offense, really attacking Naomi with a submissive and technical attack that she is not accustomed to. Naomi fought back and tried to hit her athletic offense, but her split leg moonsault was hit with knees to the stomach. Nattie locked in the Sharpshooter and claims her first championship in 6 years. Wow, I did not realize it has been that long.
This was a pretty good match with some nice storytelling, but I still wonder why they decided to go this route and not the route with the more enjoyable and crowd friendly Charlotte or Becky Lynch. The crowd liked the match, but felt more like a filler match to bigger outcomes later in the night. If you are keeping track, this is the third title change in as many matches. Shocking to me, but not shocking that Natalya is champion. As much as she does not interest me much outside of the ring, you cannot question her professionalism and expertise inside of the squared circle.
