The Biggest Problem With The Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt Rivalry

If you’ve been watching Monday Night RAW lately, you’ll know that Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt are currently engaged in “Man vs. God” kind of rivalry. The feud between the two should be looked upon as a very thing, simply because both Rollins and Wyatt are two of WWE’s brightest young superstars. In fact, both men are important figures in the current generation of superstars and will more than likely be around for the next generation.

However, while their program has been entertaining so far, and I have no doubt that we could see an incredibly fun match between the two men and their differing styles, there is one major problem with the feud — timing. Let’s take a look at that why this rivalry couldn’t have come at a less opportune time for both superstars.

Neither Man Can Afford To Lose Right Now

Timing has a lot to do with the issues in this program. Both of the superstars here will have no problem making their story an interesting one. But the problem with the feud is that none of them can afford to lose right now.

Ever since Seth Rollins returned from injury last Summer, he has been fighting an uphill battle to reclaim the glory he once had as WWE World Champion. While he became a face in the process and won over a lot more fans, he found himself screwed out of wins by everyone from his Shield team-mate Dean Ambrose to the Authority. But he finally overcame that by defeating his ultimate nemesis Triple H at WrestleMania, adopting the King Slayer nickname in the process. To lose now would undo all that momentum he finally regained.

Additionally, Rollins is the brand new face of WWE 2K18. This move alone has gained him an immense amount of fan support — he got a really strong reaction on RAW last week, including a proud “you deserve it” chant. With the talented superstar practically fronting their gaming brand, it would be a mistake for WWE to have Seth Rollins lose right now.

And Bray Wyatt can’t afford to lose at all — simply because he’s been subjected to questionable booking since his arrival on the main roster, which almost always results in the Eater of Worlds ending up on the losing side. His move to SmackDown LIVE finally gave him the spotlight he deserved. And after an amazing outing at Elimination Chamber, Wyatt finally captured the one thing has eluded him his entire career — the WWE Championship.

But when it finally seemed like things were looking up for the demonic superstar, he lost the title merely a month later and was shipped off to RAW. And with all this happening, the WWE Universe is left wondering: How are we supposed to take this self-proclaimed “God” seriously if he delivers amazing speeches but can never back them up in the ring?

Furthermore, the move to the red brand has left many of us worried that Wyatt may once again get lost among the over-packed roster on Monday nights. Just like a loss, that is another blow that his charismatic presence shouldn’t have to worry about.

With Seth Rollins determined to prove he’s still the King Slayer and Bray Wyatt determined to prove he’s a “God”, there is a lot of pressure on both men to succeed. The only problem is that one of them won’t.

Who Stands A Better Chance Of Recovering From A Loss?

There doesn’t need to be much of a discussion about this one. Yes, neither man can really afford to lose right now — however, for very different reasons. Rollins is one of the hottest properties in WWE right now. He’s not only talented in the ring and on the mic, but he’s overcome the odds and is now set to front the company’s latest video game. On the other hand, while Bray Wyatt is exceptional in the ring and on the mic, he hasn’t been booked anywhere near as well. Unlike Rollins, he has lost most of his major feuds and instead of having an extra long championship reign; he had one of the shortest in recent memory.

For those reasons alone, Seth Rollins would definitely stand a better chance of recovering from the loss. Everything is looking up for him now, and although a loss to Wyatt would certainly stall his momentum, he would undoubtedly recover from it and move on to bigger and better things. Bray Wyatt needs this win for so many reasons. First of all, he needs to win more major feuds. Secondly, he needs to prove that he should be feared, that he should be respected and that most importantly, he still is the Eater of Worlds.

There is no doubt in my mind that both Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins will produce an entertaining and enjoyable feud, full of epic promos and awesome matches. But the timing of the rivalry is unfortunate as both superstars can’t really afford to lose right now. But on the bright side, whoever walks out the victor of the high-profile rivalry will do so with a major boost to their young career.
