Being the best wrestler in the world doesn’t mean just winning a match or two. True champions are the ones who keep winning, match after match, fight after fight and preserve that blaze of glory. So, who are the ones that became a part of history and managed to have the greatest streaks in WWE history? Take a look at our list and find out.

Who Has the Greatest Run in WWE History?

Demolition

The first one on our list of pro wrestlers who had most successful runs is the tag team that goes by the name of Demolition. Though many argue that today’s team is just a shadow of its former self, Demolition is still an important wrestling tandem that became known for their amazing run. In 1988 at the event of Wrestlemania IV, Ax and Smash (together as the Demolition) managed to obliterate Strike Force (made up of Rick Martel and Tito Santana) and become WWF’s tag team champions. They held it for amazing 478 days before running into Brain Busters and losing it via disqualification. Thankfully for them, they still hold a record for the greatest champion run in tag team history.

CM Punk

If you’ve been following CM Punk’s career, you know that he’s out of pro wrestling and into his new career that isn’t really going that great. Namely, in 2016 he decided to try his luck in MMA and debuted in UFC against Mickey Gall, who wiped the floor with him in the first round. Either way, though he is absent from the sport, CM Punk still holds a record for the longest WWE championship title. He defeated Alberto del Rio in the Survivor Series, winning the title that he would hold for 434 days before losing it to, who else but Rock. After getting that achievement, how could he not retire?

Hulk Hogan

One of the most recognizable wrestlers in the history of the sport, Hulk Hogan is also among the record holders when it comes to longest streaks. We all remember that breathtaking match against Iron Sheik, when Hogan defeated him and became a WWE champion. Many people believe this was the start of the so-called Hulkamania, when everyone became obsessed with the wrestler and the promotions used it to the max. Back in the day, Hulk Hogan was Mr America himself and got a number of roles in the movies (though not very good ones) and headlined 7 Wrestlemania events. His reign lasted 1,474 days before it was broken down by his only suitable match – Andre the Giant.

Bruno Sammartino

Of course, the longest run in the history of WWE would have to be Bruno Sammartino’s that lasted seven years in total (or 2803 days exactly). He got the title in 1963, when he beat Buddy Rogers that went by the name of Nature Boy. People simply adored Sammartino and got used to him being the champion so much that, when he finally lost the title in 1971, people shocked to say the least. No one expected his reign to stop and besides being upset, some people could even be seen crying in the background. He got back on the horse in 1973, but it just wasn’t the same and people recognized it. Sammartino still remains one of the wrestlers with longest runs in WWE history.

The Undertaker

Now, it would be extremely unfair not to mention the Undertaker, for he holds a truly special place on our list. The Undertaker holds the record for the most consecutive wins in Wrestlemania, which really tells you something, considering that it is one of the biggest and most respected wrestling events ever. Just as Hulk Hogan was beginning to slide off the Wrestlemania’s main events, The Undertaker was just getting started. During Wrestlemania VII, he defeated Jimmy Snuka and started an amazing streak that is now known as The Streak. The Undertaker would go on to win 21 times in total, setting a record that no one has come close to, yet. The Streak was ended by Brock Lesnar to the audience’s shock and disbelief. It is often referred to as the greatest winning streak in sport history.

How upset were you when The Undertaker lost the match?
