The Miz vs. Kalisto
The first match on Smackdown Live would be for the Intercontinental Championship. Fast paced and Kalisto put on a good effort in this match. He hits a Spike Hurricanranna and then rolls him into the corner. Kalisto goes up top to try and finish off The Miz, but Baron Corbin appears.He hits an enziguri and knocks Baron off of the apron. With this distraction, The Miz hits Skull Crushing Finale and picks up the win. After the bout, Corbin hits End of Days on Kalisto and Dolph Ziggler hits a superkick on The Miz.
Putting two feuds together in one segment is always smart to do, especially when you could really benefit having guys like Baron and Kalisto involved with two of the most established and enjoyable guys on Smackdown. This will most likely set up a tag team match next week before WWE TLC, where Baron and Miz look to get the upper hand. If this is the final chapter between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler (at WWE TLC), you have to have some sort of finality and not a cheap win. The Miz, as a heel, would have to win his way and not have Maryse help him. Finish the feud in smart, yet legal, fashion.
Tag Team Turmoil
All of the Smackdown Live tag teams are vying for a shot at Heath and Rhyno’s tag team championships at WWE TLC. After a lengthy turmoil match, American Alpha stands tall and defeats The Uso’s. The lights go out and The Wyatt Family appear on the screen. Bray says that he and Randy Orton are the tag team that American Alpha need to face to get their championship match. This will happen on Smackdown next week.
This would not be the first championship I would pick for Bray Wyatt, but at least it is going to make the Smackdown Tag Team division much more interesting. Him and Harper should have been champions a long time ago. I did not like how the entire match seemed meaningless now, with the turmoil match basically setting up ANOTHER match to find out who would face Heath and Rhyno. It is all because of Orton not being there live and having the birth of his child, but they could have used it next week. The impact on Wyatt’s just appearing in the match and winning would have a bigger impact.
I am ready for American Alpha to be in the hunt for the tag team championships, but they need heels to work with. They need guys to counter their face gimmick and maybe WWE should freshen it up with Orton/Wyatt being those guys. A guy like Orton could put on some great matches with Jordan and Gable, with Wyatt always being a gimmick that people want to see succeed. I just do not like the execution of this on Smackdown Live and thought there could have been a more effective way to introduce Bray and Randy in the tag team picture. The Turmoil match was sloppy and really did not give us much drama to work with.
