Isenberg Reacts: WWE RAW “Who is Next and Who Left As Universal Champion?”

Goldberg Enters the Royal Rumble

To kick off WWE RAW, Goldberg talks about Survivor Series and then meeting Stephanie McMahon after the match. She asks if he has one more championship run left in him. Goldberg says that that championship runs through the Royal Rumble and everyone is next. Goldberg officially enters himself into the 2017 Royal Rumble match.

I have absolutely no problem with this at all. With Goldberg, we have seen that less is more. Have him take close to two months off and make a big impact in the rumble match in San Antonio. To get butts in the seats, you need to bring the big guns like this. He is much better suited as being announced than a surprise entrant. As for Brock Lesnar, I think the easy way would be for him to attack Goldberg and eliminate him in the Royal Rumble Match. Quick heat and an easy reason for Goldberg to give him a third match.

I do think it is going to be Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Either that or somehow Lesnar goes for a Universal Championship. I just really enjoy how passionate Goldberg comes off. It feels like he is doing it for all the right reasons and not because he feels obligated to.

The New Day Retain…Again

Even the uppercut express, Brogue Kicks and a Cesaro Swing could not keep the champions down. The New Day had Kofi Kingston rolling and also had Big E hit a Big Ending to almost seal the fate of Sheamus and Cesaro. A Sharpshooter had Kofi tapping, but the trombone playing of Xavier Woods distracted the referee, which led to a quick roll-up and victory for the WWE Tag Team Champions.

When you look at this win, it is a very traditional heel win even though they are huge faces. We would then see Anderson and Gallows beat Golden Truth to get a title shot next week. We are going to get championship matches up until they surpass Demolition for longest reign in history. Smart idea, but also bad. It brings importance each week to WWE RAW, but we all know they are going to break the streak. Will it devalue what the other tag teams are if they continue to lose?

If I am WWE, I let The New Day beat these teams like heel teams do, cheating and finding ways to survive. After all of their shenanigans, let them put the titles on the line in a Fatal Four Way at WWE Roadblock. Give teams like Gallows/Anderson, Cesaro/Sheamus and Enzo/Cass an opportunity after getting screwed out of winning.
