It is Always About Charlotte
The traditional women’s WWE Survivor Series match had moments. They had the interactions between champions, they had the splash moves and they had a dominating effort from Nia Jax. Jax looked great, hitting a double suplex and really showcasing her strength in the ring. She followed it up with tapping out to Becky Lynch. Wait, what? Yes, a 250 pound Nia Jax could not break a hold from a 130 pound Becky Lynch. That was frustrating and was simply a poor booking decision.
It came down to Becky Lynch vs. Bayley and Charlotte. While Charlotte was cruising, she would end up getting taken down by a Bex-Plex. Finally, Bayley gets the tag and revereses Lynch into a Bayley to Belly for the victory. After the match, Charlotte attacks Bayley. She makes waste of her on the outside and reminds everyone that the spotlight will be on her. While many can criticize that idea, I like it.
Look, Bayley needed some sort of win. Her build has been average so far and her saving grace is the WWE Universe loving her. With an early exit from Sasha Banks, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for the fan favorite to make a statement. She did, but you need to immediately develop her vs. Charlotte. They wasted no time in making that happen. Charlotte adds another PPV win to her resume and starts a new feud in the process. RAW Women are more superior, right now, than Smackdown. Aside from a nice Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch feud, there are not many others that are ready to make the jump from mid card to main event. Nikki Bella does not need it, Carmella isn’t ready and Naomi is going to be stuck (unfortunately) in a position she has been in for years.
The Miz defeated Sami Zayn
A nice reception for Sami Zayn in Canada, followed by a solid bout between the two men. WWE Survivor Series needed a solid one-on-one match. First off, I think Sami Zayn has incredible moves in the ring and will always be underrated in matches. He is one of those guys that you can throw out there with anyone and he can make it better than average. In this match, there was no real build. The Miz played his cards right on Smackdown Live, becoming a six time champion. With Roman Reigns as United States Champion on RAW, you knew that the IC strap was going to stay on the blue brand.
A few tweets rolled in last night saying that The Miz should not be with Maryse on television. Are you kidding me? She is the perfect fit to make him feel more important. He collects heel victories because of her, looks like a legit Hollywood star and can always go back to the well of being better than everyone else because of who he has on his arm. These two could be the best heel team on Smackdown right now. The level of consistency they give us each week has been unmatched. After a nice 14 minute bout, it was a good outing from both men. Was it anything that will be remembered? No, but it was not booked to be that way.
