So, That Happened
One minute and twenty five seconds was all that was needed for Goldberg to defeat Brock Lesnar. After a shove, Goldberg hit two spears and a Jackhammer to defeat the man that was one viewed as invincible. The main event of Survivor Series left everyone shocked, confused and somewhat bitter. I am not sure what to make of it, but WWE made a huge mistake.
I am not saying Goldberg should have lost, but I think WWE needed to make this a struggle for both men physically, not a complete squash for a guy that is your biggest box office draw since John Cena. Brock Lesnar is different. Goldberg has been out of physical competition for over a decade. How does this look, when UFC’s toughest guy loses in a fake match against a 49 year old opponent in under 90 seconds. Does WWE think “hey, if UFC can have quick main event matches so can we?” That would be a horrible way to look at it.
Is it punishment, finally, for Brock Lesnar who tested positive earlier this year? Do they want to set up a third match, even though Brock is down 0-2 and makes no sense to have a “Best of Three”? I really cannot explain what happened, why it happened and what is next for Brock Lesnar. I do think we see Goldberg in 2 more matches, one being the Royal Rumble in January. WWE has profited so much on Lesnar’s dominance more than they EVER had with Bill Goldberg. That is the biggest reason I question this and cannot seem to make any sense about it. Giving a 90 second match a 4.5 seems bad, but at least it is getting everyone talking the next day, right?
When your boss texts you and asks what in the world he just witnessed, you know that something went wrong.
