Chad Gable made his single’s debut on Smackdown Live, facing Jimmy Uso. Jimmy connects with the Samoan Drop and then slows the pace with a headlock. Jimmy headbutts Gable, but Chad Gable tosses Jimmy to the outside. Gable finally gets on the offensive with a back body drop and then a float over clothesline off the top. His amateur wrestling kicks in with a cross armbreaker. Uso fights out of it and rolls him up. Jey uses his legs to keep the pressure on Gable, not letting him kick out. Jimmy is victorious.

Not a bad outing from either guy, but another average bout. Not enough time, but I will say that was a unique way of helping someone out. The referee was not even close to seeing how Jey helped his brother and they hightailed it out. As Heath Slater and Rhyno continue to be used potentially in a way with Dolph Ziggler, I would like to see these two teams really go at it. The Uso’s were so good with The Shield and The Wyatt Family, so there is no reason why we can’t get them here with American Alpha for an extended period of time.

AJ Styles is So Good

The WWE World Champion comes out and talks about beating both John Cena and Dean Ambrose. He gloats about always being a winner and finding a way to win. That is why he used the chair, which is why he is champion and “The face that runs the place.” He wants to give someone an opportunity and out comes Dean Ambrose. He says he made him tap last night and wants a shot.  AJ says no and that he already has an opponent. James Ellsworth comes out to the ring and Styles buddies him up. He tells him he has a non-title match against him. Daniel Bryan makes Dean Ambrose the special referee for it.

As you would expect, Ambrose screwed Styles out of winning multiple times. Styles was not allowed to put his hands on Ambrose, but Ambrose hit two Dirty Deeds DDT’s and threw a beaten Ellsworth onto AJ Styles for the win.

I got to admit, this was entertaining. I would usually bash this and bash the idea, but Dean Ambrose was refreshingly funny and not too goofy. It was natural humor that won be over and helped that AJ Styles is so good at anything he does. I have to give credit to Ambrose for keeping the interest in a rather uninteresting match and the crowd got behind Ellsworth. When you do something like this, you worry about the lack of importance from your champion. It was perfectly fine tonight and think one more week would not be the worst thing possible. With John Cena not on Smackdown, you were able to focus on building up Ambrose once again. Tonight was one of my more favorite Smackdown’s from the former world champion. Hell did freeze over and I did compliment Dean Ambrose. But, can it last more than one week?
