Isenberg Reacts: WWE Clash of Champions “No Finality in Any Feud”

The Kevin Owens Show Continues

wwe-universal-championship-social

The main event of Clash of Champions was Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. Seth Rollins’ pace looked slowed to begin, focusing more on a ground and pound technique. Kevin Owens targeted Rollins’ surgically repaired knee, with multiple kicks and punches. He would apply a leg lock and really crank away at the injured knee.  Seth fired back with an clothesline and a few spot on kicks to Owens’ face. That led to a frog splash from the top rope, but he would only get a two count. Seth continued to be in control, with a flying knee to the head. Chris Jericho would make his way out and cause a distraction. Owens tried his finisher, but Seth reversed it with a leap frog. The only problem would be he hit the referee. He would also hit some Suicide Dives on Jericho and Owens. Stephanie McMahon came out and brought a new referee with her. Seth was distracted, which led to a pop-up powerbomb from Kevin Owens and a victory for the champion.

A really solid main event ended a night that was solid, but not stellar. This match begins the slow build of a huge Seth Rollins face championship victory, but that is a few months down the road. First, I love the addition of Chris Jericho here, helping his friend. Second, Stephanie McMahon does JUST enough to screw over Seth Rollins. Lastly, this match shows you that there is much more to look forward to with both champion and challenger.

Tonight provided really good matches, but it seems like much of this card will be similar in a month. Where was the finality in ANY of the feuds? With screwy finishes, WWE is keeping the door open for all of these feuds to potentially continue. Is it the worst thing? No, but what match will be inside Hell in a Cell? How will they make Reigns and Rusev not feel repetitive and complacent? Will they add Sami and Chris to the main event picture? Many questions, but I am wondering if their answers will be best for business.
