Isenberg Reacts: WWE Clash of Champions “No Finality in Any Feud”

Best of…8?

Sheamus and Cesaro battled and fought hard at Clash of Champions. That might be an understatement because the natural physicality was at a high, something that has never been an issue for them. One of the issues about this series was that 5 of the 7 matches were pretty predictable, including the last three. Tonight’s finish did not provide closure in the feud, but was not predictable. I love the chemistry between the two and can watch them fight, but what happens now?

What is this feud about? What championship opportunity will come out of this? When they decided to go this route, with both men unable to continue at the end, you leave everyone wondering what is to come. I am not sure this works for an 8th match. We have seen this match many times and this should have been concluded tonight so both men can move on. Either way, I am not going to let a questionable booking decision ruin how great this match was and how old school it felt. It was your classic blow for blow heavyweight fight.

Chris Jericho defeated Sami Zayn

A feud that seems to be thrown together is never a good idea, but when you have two talented guys like Chris Jericho and Sami Zayn, it can work. Jericho and Zayn put on a solid performance tonight. As usual, Zayn started off hot with punches and elbows that forced the veteran back into the corner. Chris Jericho would have to tap into his Walls of Jericho to slow down Sami. When Sami battled out of that, he hit a few big moves and then a Blue Thunder Bomb for a two count. Chris would find himself ducking out of the way from Zayn’s Helluva Kick multiple times. Playing hurt, Jericho would pop up and hit a match winning Codebreaker.

Chris Jericho is 45 years old and is continuing to do some of the best work of his career. Whether it is his cocky, yet humorous lines outside of the ring or his constant professionalism in the ring, you cannot tell me that this Chris Jericho is not someone you want to see on a daily basis. Tonight’s match will have the IWC marks complaining about Sami Zayn losing. Like I said on Chair Shot Reality Sunday, you have to roll with the hot hand and one of the most consistent heels in a brand where you have so few. A 15 minute match was solid and gives us another reason why we love Chris Jericho.
