Isenberg Reacts: WWE RAW “Controlled Feuds Spark Clash of Champions Card”

It Comes Down To Match 7

Much to the surprise of nobody, Sheamus and Cesaro will compete in Match 7 at WWE Clash of Champions. WWE RAW featured Match 6 in what was another great bout. Even though the matches are all pretty similar, WWE is finally making it feel important. Michael Cole is talking and commentating like this is a big fight. I like the fact that both men have continued to produce great matches, even without much backstage storyline involved. It has been simple, but entertaining wrestling. It will always be our concern, as fans, to see where Cesaro goes next.

Can we really think WWE will catapult him over Seth, Kevin, Roman and Rusev? Unlikely, but if working your butt off does anything, it should put these two guys in the main event conversation. Another solid bout and the more physical they get, the better.

Side bar: can we have a Match 7 stipulation? Why not a street fight? How about a Last Man Standing? They have put their bodies through so much that the last match should be all out enjoyable with no limits.

The New Day. Sami Zayn, Enzo and Cass Stand Tall

After a hilarious segment that featured Chris Jericho talking about his problems with Mick Foley, he gets interrupted and puts everyone that interrupts him on “The List of Jericho.” I wish it would have been like he did in WCW, with the huge paper and list of moves (now problems), but it did just enough to have that small nostalgic piece to it. This would turn into a match with The Shining Stars, Chris Jericho, Anderson and Gallows. Once again, WWE uses about 20-25 minutes of a segment well with no lapses. Instead of having two or three segments with these feuds, they wisely put them all in two extended segments and out came some good moments. When I look at this match tonight, I do think the heels get the better of the faces on Sunday. It is TIME for The New Day to face some sort of adversity, which means Gallows and Anderson will capture their first Tag Team Championships together in WWE.

Second, as hot as Chris Jericho is right now, Sami Zayn needs the win. I still am slightly leaning towards Chris Jericho, especially if WWE wants to capitalize on a Jericho/Owens feud down the road. Sami and Chris will have an incredible match on Sunday, that is without a doubt. The way the match is booked will soon show you how much they truly believe in the stock of Sami Zayn. These are matches he needs to win, but might not.

As for The Shining Stars, I am just hoping this is a short feud for Enzo and Cass before getting put back into the championship picture. There is no need to waste these talented guys with Primo and Epico, who are never going to consistently get over with the WWE Universe. So, for tonight on WWE Raw, it was a very good segment that made plenty of sense. A little crowded at times, but still did not lack entertainment.
