Austin Aries is Booked Like Chris Jericho
A double is a veteran who knows how to get the crowd to cheer him and book him at the same time. With his victory at NXT Takeover and another win tonight against Andrade Cien Almas, NXT knows that this guy is a legit star. He may not have the credibility of Chris Jericho in his career, but both men are very similar. They always have a similar gimmick, look and consistency about them. Tonight showed me that Aries will continue to be “unproven” younger talent to get to a guy that officials have high regards for. That man is Hideo Itami. Does that script ring a bell at all?
Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, Samoa Joe and a few others are going be big players in NXT. It shows they the upper card depth to not really miss a Finn Balor or Apollo Crews.
Asuka Has Nobody
This is going to be a problem for NXT officials. With Bayley gone from NXT, as well as Alexa Bliss, Carmella and Nia Jax, NXT is thin at the women’s divisio Ember Moon and Billie Kay are two names that immediately come to mind, but does anyone really think they are ready? Asuka’s path to the NXT Women’s Championship was strange, beating Nia Jax and then Bayley on her first try. She never had to overcome anything and was always seemingly steamrolling through competition below the two previously discussed. After that, WWE realizes that this could be an issue.
So, who is next for her? Liv Morgan? Yes, she is appealing to the eyes but is she ready? They have 3-5 women who are so green and new to the crowd but one will have to be rushed to fight the champion. Even though Asuka is so talented, I am not sold on any of the women being technically, physically and mentally ready to be on the same level as the champion. That causes a problem.
