WWE Championship Match
A highly anticipated championship match with multiple angles at Battleground. Roman Reigns returns to a chorus of boos and a new beard. Seth Rollins comes out to a heroic cheer and Dean Ambrose makes his way to a positive reaction. Much like everyone anticipated, this match did not let anyone down. It was about who would leave as champion and head to their respected shows. In the end, Dean Ambrose picked up the MASSIVE win and brings the WWE Championship to Smackdown.
Looking back at the match, it really told you that WWE needs Dean Ambrose to step up in a huge way. Excellent fighting back and forth, with Roman Reigns hitting the power moves. He looked really strong, a little slower and trying to keep up with two guys that can run circles around him. You expected this. Seth Rollins looked excellent as always. I loved the corner powerbomb on Reigns, which also allowed him to showcase his strength. He is so smooth and so agile. But, we all know the ending was what needed to happen. Dean hits Dirty Deeds on Roman Reigns and picks up the win, stealing it from him after Seth Rollins took a Superman Punch and a Spear.
Again, an excellent main event with three superstars who are the future of this company. Yes, the roads they travel might be different, but they are going to sell merchandise and showcase their talents for the next 5-10 years. Dean Ambrose’s does a lot for him. I am not sure if this “JUSTIFIES” him being champion, but it certainly does not hurt. Who does he face at SummerSlam, though? If we have Randy vs. Brock, John Cena vs. AJ Styles and the emphasis of the WWE Champion on Smackdown, you look at the roster and really wonder who will step up to the plate.
All in all, WWE Battleground proved that WWE has plenty of talent, some young and some trying to reinvent themselves. Whatever path they decide to take, all three of these men are going to be in the main events and important feuds for a long time.
