Great Efforts From Charlotte and Natalya
One of my biggest concerns heading into this match was that there would be too much emphasis on Bret and Ric Flair. There was not much and that was best for business. Charlotte and Natalya had a great match, with Nattie kicking out of everything Charlotte gave. Nattie was built exactly how she needed to be, the underdog fighting back and kicking out of everything the superior champion gave her.
Moonsaults, big kicks and Charlotte continuing to showcase that she is the most athletically gifted woman was exactly what needed to be accomplished. We are bridging time for either Bayley or Sasha Banks to potentially dethrone Charlotte.
I laughed about the ending being like 1997, but I do think that this gives Natalya another match in less than three weeks. It screws out the face and gives more heat on Charlotte. It was a nice touch to have both get the Sharpshooter in the middle of the ring, but Bret should focus more on his health than stuff like this. It was not needed.
Vince McMahon’s Big Announcement
Vince McMahon comes out and talks about a new era in WWE. He says that this person needs to be a great person in business and in ethics. He asks if it should be Shane or should it be Stephanie. His daughter comes out to the ring and she is smiling from ear to ear. She begins to thank all of the fans for their support. Vince flips out and calls Chicago a bunch of animals and she does not want their support. Stephanie McMahon calls herself a leader and begins to list her accomplishments. Shane McMahon comes out and talks about how well he is doing running Monday Night Raw.
Shane goes to the screen and shows Fox Sports article about revitalizing and making Raw cool again. Sporting News, Bleacher Report and other articles are shown. He talks about how people were interested in his match at WrestleMania 32. He talks about his differences he and his father had seven years ago and left a void. Vince says he does not listen to anybody and says it is about what he wants. Vince says he wants blood and says he wants both to slit their throats. Vince says that they both are running Raw.
Well, this is interesting and I am okay with it. It seemed like the crowd wanted something else, but I do think it could produce some good content in the next few weeks or even few months. What can this produce? It can produce an old school family feud with some added intrigue. I think that it takes a little bit for Triple H to get involved. I also do think that there is potential for this to culminate at SummerSlam for a final showdown. It is still crazy that the McMahon Family still makes everything much more interesting. It can bring back similarities from the Attitude Era, an era built around The McMahon Family taking control of storylines on a weekly basis.
