The other side of the argument is that WWE never gave chance for anyone else to make it through the ranks to be seen on the same level as Cena, which I think is fair to say in some instances. I’ve always thought that WWE were always too quick to knee jerk back to John Cena instead of allowing things to develop but that’s a another story for another day.
The trouble with the current situation is that I don’t think the character of Roman Reigns is helping sway fans he’s different than John Cena. I say this because he’s just going through the babyface motions at the moment. When you think about it, who is Roman Reigns? I know nothing much about him. The closest we got to finding something about his history and his thought process is when his family was brought up in a couple of promos by Paul Heyman.
Ironically the time I’ve connected with Reigns the most is when watching the WWE 24 episode where he broke down backstage after Seth Rollins walked out with the Championship in San Francisco. There he appeared himself rather than just another babyface.
If Roman could connect more with the crowd then they wouldn’t be bothered about his corporate responsibilities. If in my own way I could give some advice to Roman Reigns from a fans perspective then I would say this…
You are in the MAIN EVENT of WRESTLEMANIA! You’re in a position that people would die for! TELL me how much this means to you. MAKE me FEEL like I need to see this fight. TELL me how much it hurt last year when Seth Rollins stole your dreams. Don’t sarcastically grin at everyone when they point out your flaws, SHOW your EMOTIONS. TELL me how much Triple H is ruining your career and at WrestleMania you NEED to put this right. MAKE me feel that nothing other than WrestleMania exists. Once you do that, people don’t care about who is the ‘Face of the WWE’. Then they care about and invest in YOUR STORY.
Nobody else can do it Roman, only you. Now is your time, tell your story…
