Guest Editorial: The Best Way to Use the Undertaker at WrestleMania 32

Alright, let’s cut to the chase. No Styles, no Owens, no Ambrose, no other midcard or rising star for the Undertaker this year. WrestleMania will be in his home state, and this may be his last hurrah. In fact, it should be, and he should get his due homage at the event. The guy has been a staple in the business for over 25 years, longer than the ages of a majority of people who even watches wrestling. He already “gave back” (stupid explanation) to the business by ending the Streak against Brock Lesnar, as well as lost a feud with him the second half of last year. Anyone beating the Undertaker at WM, whether it is AJ Styles or Heath Slater, would not mean as much now since the Streak is over.

For The Undertaker, he needs to compete against someone who has a legendary status and tenure similar to him. Kane is once again not being booked very strongly, so he as a choice is eliminated despite having a great history with Taker. Chris Jericho would make an interesting option, but a face or heel Jericho against Taker does not have much star power due to how weak Jericho has been booked over the years, as well as most likely losing his feud against AJ Styles to put him over.

The only option, at this point, would be to insert him in the world title picture. There does not need to be much explanation to why he is in the title picture, because his status justifies it alone. With his long history with Triple H, competing against each other at three WrestleMania events, the suspense can be built that Triple H can finally beat him on the big stage.

This could also play into the triple threat match happening this weekend at Fastlane. While Reigns is the favorite to win the match, WWE dropped the ball again by his awful booking at the Royal Rumble. So, as a result, they need to spend more time building him up as a legitimate babyface once again. All this can play out this Sunday.

Since Reigns and Ambrose has this “brotherhood” going on, a turn seems to be evident. Ambrose finally being a heel and adding more menacing layers to his character, which he exhibited during his days in the indies, would garner enough heat to further build Reigns, so a match between the two of them at WrestleMania does not need a stipulation or a championship to be intriguing. So, this leaves Lesnar winning at Fastlane, setting up him vs. Triple H at WrestleMania.

We have seen this before at WrestleMania, so it would not be much of a big deal. However, adding The Undertaker to the mix would be fascinating. Since this may be the Undertaker’s swan song, one more world title opportunity would be perfect to close the final chapter of his illustrious career. This is a feat that he has not achieved since 2009 (World Heavyweight Championship) and 2002 (WWE Championship).

Ending the night with the Undertaker defying the odds of The Game and The Beast will leave WrestleMania 32 as one of the most memorable events of all time, especially considering the circumstances that it may be Undertaker’s last. It has been eight years since he has won a world title at a WrestleMania, and this year could potentially be the biggest moment of his career, and revive his WrestleMania legacy.

That’s the way you book The Undertaker this year.
