Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “AJ Styles Needs Gold”

Roman And Dean Planting The Seeds

wwe smackdown

Roman Reigns and Rusev kicked off Smackdown in a match that was very simplistic in nature and extremely predictable. The League of Nations got involved, causing a disqualification. Dean Ambrose came down to make the save and the two men cleared the ring with some of their patented moves. Ambrose accidentally hits Reigns in the process, which is something to tease heading towards a tag team main event. During the main event, things picked up when Dean Ambrose got a hot tag from Roman. Ambrose hits a running forearm and a bulldog before connecting with a dropkick. Ambrose keeps up the pace with a suicide dive to the outside and then gets a two count on Rusev. Rusev was able to hit a big kick, but then taken down again.

Roman Reigns hit a drive by and then an uppercut onto Del Rio. Reigns with a uppercut to Del Rio. A Superman Punch onto Rusev and Alberto Del Rio with a superkick to Reigns. Both men head to the outside and then Dean Ambrose goes for a suicide dive, but Del Rio escapes and Ambrose lands on Reigns. They both argue, but end up getting the win thanks to another Superman Punch and a Spear from Roman Reigns.

Not a bad piece of storytelling on Smackdown from two men battling for the world title in a few weeks. League of Nations are the perfect pairing for these guys. NOBODY cheers for Sheamus, ADR and Rusev. They are just three guys that are legit old school heels. The story was more about Roman and Dean arguing and not being on the same page. Keep this going. They aren’t tag team partners every week. I do see The Authority putting them in a match against one another on Raw in the coming weeks. They must build both guys up simultaneously. Let’s see who shines.
