Is WWE Actually Trying?
Paul Heyman comes out and talks about the MSG Special with Brock Lesnar. He is interrupted by Big Show. Show comes out and talks about how he is going to destroy Brock Lesnar and that Paul Heyman knows he is the only guy that can do it.
Blake Mitchamore wrote about Big Show on CSRWrestling.com and I tend to agree with his points. Blake said: “Big Show beating Cesaro last week just pissed me off. Big Show beating Mark Henry this week just made me want to change the channel. The WWE produced video package tonight on their rivalry changed it all for me. In the span of two minutes I forgot about Big Show jobbing to Ryback and Miz. In the span of two minutes I remembered just how dominant Big Show can be.”
Yes, Big Show can be dominant. The video package was great because it did not focus on his weaknesses. But, and this is a big “but,” Fans will ALWAYS remember how Big Show has been built for the past decade, flopping back and forth from heel to face and face to heel. There is no consistency in his character, no real presence from him other than his size. Can his size be his “end all, be all?” Whatever you think, Big Show vs. Brock Lesnar will be Lesnar showcasing his strength and getting prepared for his next big feud while selling some tickets in NYC.
Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt
It was a good street fight that ended WWE Raw. You had these guys go all over the arena, fighting back and forth and inside and out. Roman and Bray fought to the crowd, attacking each other with punches and clotheslines. Roman would get crushed by Wyatt and Wyatt cheered on the announce table. Reigns came out of nowhere and speared him through the other announce table.
What this tells me is that Roman and Bray will fight inside Hell in a Cell. It makes sense based on their feud and having it finally come to some sort of finality. Will it be the end? No, nothing ever ends in WWE. But, this could be a really intense and physical contest that could steal the show at Hell in a Cell. I just want there to be something that they are fighting for.
Wyatt cost Roman Reigns his shot at a championship match. Why can’t this match decide who the next contender to Seth Rollins is? Do we really want to see Seth facing Kane more than once? I sure don’t and WWE needs to have guys in mind a month or two in advance to really get people to care about the championship.
*Tonight showed us that WWE are so unaware of how much wasted television time they use on meaningless matches and lack of development. As a fan, we all deserve better content.
