The Demon vs. Corporate Kane
Kane is back and he is going after the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and Seth Rollins. When Kane returned a few short weeks ago, it was expected. It was predictable and many people were skeptical about it. Logic says that the feud with both men never ended, so there has to be some sort of conclusion.
I am alright with this, but why do we continue to get two Kane characters? One is plenty and WWE could do such a better job at making the mystique and intrigue of the old Kane character cool again. Do we care to see Glen Jacobs? No, nothing against him personally, but he NEVER made the company money. He never spiked ratings. He never feuded with his brother and put on championship matches. He is not needed in a feud that could be really good. Instead, they are relying on special effects, smoke and a split persona storyline that lacks real development. A hurt leg and he gets stretched out in the ambulance only to no sell it and stomp his foot to be better again.
The best part of the night? Ashley from HR.
Come on.
John Cena, The Dudley’s and The New Day
Raw kicked off fresh and different. John Cena came out and was interrupted by the most entertaining group in the WWE. The New Day focused their attention on the champion and played up their gimmick.
Xavier Woods and John Cena put on a really good match, showcasing the athleticism and strength that Woods actually has. You never seen a long and developed match from him, so this was really refreshing. I think the bigger point would be this scenario:
Xavier Woods vs. John Cena at WWE Hell in a Cell? Why not? In a Pay-Per-View filled with much more complex and developed storylines, you can easily throw this match in under the radar and let them work. I love this idea and think WWE needs to go this way. Woods will not win, but that is not the point of it. If we can get Cena vs. R-Truth for the world title at Capitol Punishment, we can surely see Mr. Trombone tooting his way into a title match.
As for Bubba and Devon Dudley, they make The New Day feel much more important and special holding those championships. Legit competition makes more interesting television. At least for a segment or two.
