Isenberg Reacts: WWE Night of Champions “Night of Changes, Night of Confusion”

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev

wwe night of championsIn a competitive match, Dolph Ziggler and Rusev are scripted pretty similar to their match at SummerSlam. Rusev gains early control, targeting the back and legs of Dolph. Dolph is able to reverse the momentum and hit a Fameasser for two. Rusev fires back with a sidekick and tries another one, but Ziggler counters and applies the sleeper hold. Dolph Ziggler plants Rusev with a DDT. Rusev turns around and kicks Ziggler’s head off.

Rusev goes for the Accolade and Ziggler escapes and a superkick of his own. Summer comes up on the ring apron and is in the ring. She gets ejected and throws a shoe that accidentally hits Rusev. Dolph Ziggler lands the Zig Zag for the win.

Who throws a shoe? Honestly? This match was just okay for me. About 7 of 12 minutes of this match was more kicking and more stomping than anything else. I like the pairing and think they work well, but there are too many similarities. Rusev is a great athlete, but kicking all the time only weakens him. Name a big heavyweight that only kicked for offense. That seems to be what Rusev is about, which isn’t a great thing.

At the end of the match, Dolph wins for what reason? Why is this feud continuing? I really feel WWE does not know what else to do with these competitors. If Lana was not injured, I feel that it ends tonight. It won’t, especially since Dolph kissed the wrist of Summer Rae after the match. What the hell is going on?
