Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown “Where Are These Storylines Actually Going?”

Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens

wwe smackdownWWE Smackdown gave us a great match between Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler. With both men tuning up for matches on Sunday, they really put on a physical and intense fight. The action picked up when Owens threw Ziggler into the timekeeper’s area, forcing Ziggler to make the 10 count. He gets back into the ring and hits a DDT, stunning Owens.

Kevin was able to connect with a superkick and try to put out Ziggler for good. This prompts Ryback to the ring and they brawl. Ryback hits a spinebuster and wants to hit Shell Shock. Owens escapes and this ends the segment.

Like I said, this was a great match and the ending worked for me. Ryback comes out to a great pop and gives us a little action. With a feud starting two weeks ago, you need to put the pedal to the metal immediately. Give us some, but not everything. I hope Owens and Ryback go more than one match because I do think this could get more out of Ryback than what we have gotten in his time as IC Champ. I wish we would have seen more Rusev tonight, but all we got was an off segment backstage with Dolph and Summer Rae.

Speaking of, that feud needs to end. I think Rusev and Lana should go back together as heels and Dolph/Summer pair up. It is so easy to get Lana to turn on Dolph and go back to Rusev, which allows Rusev to dump Summer Rae and make her feel like the “innocent” one. Either way they book it, it needs to wrap up soon. This soap opera has gone one about a month too long and has stalled.
