Isenberg Reacts: WWE Battleground “Deadman Rises, Owens Thrives”

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens

wwe battleground Kevin Owens hits some punches, but Cena slugs back. He hits a dropkick and then punches him in the corner. He connects with a nice release neckbreaker and then kicks him in the chest. He gets dirty, using his forearm to John’s face. Cena connects with a dropkick of his own. He hits a big legdrop from the top rope, but Owens kicks out at two. KO hits a nice DDT and Cena comes back with his shoulder blocks. He hits the side suplex and then Owens rolls out. He heads up top and gets knees to his back when attempting a Senton. Owens hits two shoulder blocks and then hits a side suplex, similar to what John Cena does. He hits a Five Knuckle Shuffle and Cena lifts him up with an electric chair into an STF.

He battles out and hits a release suplex into a backbreaker. Kevin catches Cena and hits a powerbomb for two. Cena hits the AA and Owens kicks out at two. Kevin Owens hits a power driver from the top for a spectacular move. As Owens gets to his feet, he yells to the crowd. John Cena counters the powerbomb and Owens hits a big kick and connects with an AA, He locks in the STF, but Cena reaches the bottom rope. Tornado DDT gives Cena another two count. Owens hits a suplex with a combination of a neckbreaker onto his leg for another two count. Owens kicks out of another AA and both men look spent, giving it their all. Kevin hits a pop-up powerbomb, but John Cena kicks out at two once again. Kevin Owens gets hit with an Attitude Adjustment from the top and kicks out again.

This was ANOTHER classic match from two stars. Kevin Owens is innovative, creative and unique. His size and stature should not be able to be this quick and have this much stamina. I cannot type how stellar and great this match was because they continue to raise the bar of excellence. The drama. The intensity. This could go down as one of the best matches of 2015. Both guys gave it everything. Every move was executed perfectly. I cannot find a flaw here. Other than Kevin Owens tapping out. If you want Owens to be “the man,” you have him make Cena tap out.

Currently, Josh Isenberg works for Major League Baseball in their Advanced Media Productions. He grew up in Pittsburgh and went to Point Park University, which is where Chair Shot Reality is filmed each week.
His life outside of his obsession with wrestling include being a savant for Seinfeld, NFL, NBA, MLB and many television shows. He also has an undying love for musicals, which includes many shows he was a part of in high school. Some of his favorite wrestling moments can be linked to such superstars as Edge, The Rock, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and The Great Khali.
