Three Stars, One Match
Rusev, Kevin Owens and Cesaro all wanted a shot at John Cena and his United States Championship tonight. What we got was a Triple Threat Match and the winner would face Cena immediately after.
Rusev connects with a swinging side suplex before Owens goes for a superplex. Cesaro takes both guys down and hits a Tornado DDT. Rusev is able to break up the win with a big body splash.
Rusev locks in his finisher, but Cesaro deadlifts Rusev and suplexes him. Owens slaps both opponents in the face, only to get beaten down by both men. After an excellent trio of moves, including a triple German Suplex, Owens decides to walk out. Rusev suplex Cesaro on the side of the apron and tries to finish him with a big kick. Cesaro avoids it and locks in his crossface. Rusev picks him up off the mat and slams him.
He goes for the Accolade but Cesaro counters with the Cesaro Swing, then he rolls through and applies a Sharpshooter. After getting out of it, Rusev throws down Cesaro from the rope and hits a superkick for the win.
Three men just continue to put on great matches. I love the fact that they gave us Rusev tonight and NOT having the Dolph injury storyline keep him off of television. I am surprised to see Cesaro lose clean, especially after the performances over the past few weeks. Is he the Dolph Ziggler guy now? A guy who steals the show, but can lose over and over again only for the fans to want him more?
If WWE was smart, they move Cesaro into a bigger spot. Move him into The Authority or in a feud with the following:
- Ryback
- John Cena (by himself)
- Bray Wyatt
- Seth Rollins (The Authority)
