Beast For Business
Brock Lesnar comes out to kick off Raw and lets Paul Heyman do what he does best. Later in the night, Brock comes out and targets Seth Rollins and his security team. After teasing rushing the ring, Brock Lesnar gets some axes and begins to destroy J and J Security’s Cadillac. He beats down Noble and Mercury and sets his sights on Seth. Rollins is able to escape without any damage.
Brock Lesnar makes things more interesting just by appearing. He is a global attraction and he is going to continue to sell tickets and put people in seats. Paul Heyman cuts promos better than anyone in the past decade. We know how good these two are together.
We have seen people destroy cars and the segment fall flat. The small laugh, the big smile and the insertion of J and J getting attacked made it work. Brock Lesnar needs to continue to look dominant. There still needs to be less physicality on Brock’s end until WWE Battleground. People are craving to see him get his hands on the champ. Keep drawing it out.
Ryback vs. Big Show
Ryback and Big Show get some much needed time in the ring for a singles match. Ryback and Show exchange blows, but the World’s Largest Athlete hits a big chokeslam and an elbow drop from the middle rope. As he is going for the pin, The Miz steps away from the commentator’s desk and attacks. It does not last long, as Show and Ryback hit their finishers.
Ryback looks really good right now, even though Big Show is NOT the opponent I want to see him face. I think WWE knows that Miz will always be booed simply because he is an unlikable character. He may be the best original heel they have, aside from Sheamus. Neither of those guys get an ounce of cheer.
Nonetheless, it was a pretty good night to enhance a storyline for the Intercontinental Championship. Do you have a slight feeling that The Miz have an actual chance of winning? He could easily steal the title and Ryback go back on the hunt. Not that I want to see that happen, but it absolutely could.
