Prime Time Players vs. The Ascension
The champs take control early and get the match going with quick tags. Viktor gets in and Titus hits some knees to his back and tosses him to the ground. He slaps Konnor in the chest and then gets hit with an elbow. Viktor kicks him in the stomach and wrenches his arm. More kicks and Viktor yells at Titus on the mat.
The Ascension use a little double team and Konnor kicks him a few times. Viktor gets into the ring and Darren Young breaks up a pinfall attempt. The hot tag goes to Young. He comes in and clothesline both guys and gets fired up. DY hits a belly to belly and then hits a clothesline into the corner. He hits another suplex and gets a two count. Titus hits a spinebuster and Darren hits an elbow and then hits Gut Check for the win.
Very smooth and simple match that entertained me. Prime Time Players pick up the win in a non-title match. I was happy not to see the predictable distraction in route to a loss. Also, it was refreshing to see Darren Young get the hot tag and take the offensive. Overall, a very good match.
Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus
Roman and Sheamus grapple and try to overpower the other. Reigns connects with a Samoan Drop and then explodes with a clothesline. Sheamus thrusts him into the corner and strikes away. Both men exchange blows, back and forth, until Sheamus hits uppercuts and takes him down with some kicks.
Sheamus’ ten beats get blocked and Roman hits some elbows. Irish Curse back breaker takes us into a commercial break. Back from break, Roman hits ten clotheslines in the corner, but Sheamus connects with a massive one to send Roman to the outside floor. Sheamus connects with more Irish Curse back breakers and then locks in the Cloverleaf. He pulls Sheamus to the bottom rope, punching out of the submission hold. Reigns hits a few elbow and builds momentum. Roman connects with a side suplex and a two count. Roman and Sheamus spill to the outside. He clothesline Sheamus onto the announce table. Wyatt starts to sing and appears on the screen again. He is sitting at a table drinking tea and it seems like he is talking to his daughter. Reigns leaves and heads to the back, while Wyatt is laughing at an empty chair.
Excellent match between Sheamus and Roman Reigns. Physical, athletic and a really good 15 minutes of action that did not bore me at all. Both guys are hitting their stride in their characters and really know how to develop a match from the beginning. Sheamus was a perfect fit for Reigns tonight and the ending with Wyatt makes perfect sense. Keep it creepy and keep the people guessing what is going to happen next. The pictures and the lighting was really good. Bray continues to make greatness happen in the easiest of ways.
