Rousey vs Steph = Bad Idea

wrestlemania 31In wrestling, it’s often a short leap from a good idea to a bad idea.

Ronda Rousey and The Rock vs. Stephanie McMahon and Triple H at WrestleMania 32 = GOOD IDEA.

Rousey vs. Steph = BAD IDEA.

The tag match would provide plenty of ga-ga to cover for the women’s inexperience. The Rock’s star power is undeniable. Triple H is a good dance partner and a consummate ring general.

A tag match offers spots like Triple H menacing Rousey, with Steph gaining an edge because of it. That (somewhat) legitimizes Rousey selling for Steph. Triple H selling for Rousey = BIG POP.

A singles match would be embarrassing. A real stinker.

Steph isn’t a pro wrestler. Being around it does not remotely equate to knowing how to do it. Rousey isn’t a pro wrestler, either. Two different genres, and only marginally connected.

From UFC’s perspective, the only thing Rousey can’t do is suck. She can’t look foolish. It’s fake wrestling, sure, but there’s good fake wrestling and bad fake wrestling.
