29. WRESTLEMANIA V
The good news is… WrestleMania V is slightly more watchable than the previous year’s attempt. The bad news is, I still wouldn’t recommend more than one or two of the FOURTEEN matches on this card, and even then just for the nostalgia of Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage, and Rick Rude beating Ultimate Warrior for the Intercontinental Championship. And if you’re not overly excited about the Hulkster taking back the WWF Championship, that selection gets a whole lot smaller.
28. WRESTLEMANIA VI
I swear I’m not intentionally going in order here. Unfortunately, there happen to be a lot of shows during this period in wrestling history that subscribed to the “more is more” philosophy of booking. Schedule four hours, throw as many matches as you can together, get everyone on the card and see what happens.
The reason VI ends up edging out its terrible predecessors is the main event bout between WWF Champion Hulk Hogan and Intercontinental Champion The Ultimate Warrior. Their match isn’t necessarily a wrestling clinic, but considering the talent in the ring it’s a lot better than expected and still one I enjoy going back to visit every now and again. That’s more than I can say for anything on Mania IV or V.
