WWE Tag Team Championship Match
Kidd and Jimmy get going. A nice 180 corkscrew splash is connected and then Cesaro is able to get into the ring. He chops him down by the legs and the Kidd locks in some submission holds. Kidd applies pressure and they work specifically on his leg. Cesaro, from the top, stomps on Jimmy’s leg. With a one legged crab, Kidd gets a tag and hits a leg drop.
Jey is able to get the tag and take care of some business. Jey hits a spinning heel kick onto Cesaro and then hits his splash into the corner. Cesaro rings Jey up on the top and then hits a superplex from the apron. Kidd hits an elbow drop for a two count. Kidd tries to lock in a Sharpshooter. Jey blind tags Jimmy and both men hit a nice Samoan Drop in stereo. Cesaro plows through and breaks it up. Kidd gets locked up and then Jey throws Kidd into the barricade with a Samoan Drop. All four men are out and Kidd gets back into the ring with Jimmy and gets his knees up, followed by a Sharpshooter. Jimmy gets dragged into the middle of the ring and Jey hits a big kick. Cesaro and Jey begin to brawl back and forth. Kidd hits his finisher and are the new tag team champions.
New Tag Team Champions. WWE went through with the full push and gave the two best technical wrestlers the WWE Tag Team Championships. They needed this. The Uso’s do not. They have been the definition of consistency, but this is a much needed shot of adrenaline from a division that has been really been underachieving.
I loved the tag team efforts from Kidd and Cesaro. It was fresh and it was unique, with more emphasis on smooth execution and a tag team mentality. Well done to book them winning the championships. All they need is matching ring gear.
The Icon vs. The Game
Triple H calls out Sting and he says that he feels sorry for Sting. Triple H calls him a loyal soldier to WCW and says he was WCW. Triple H takes credit for guys like him making that ship go down. Triple H’s legacy is putting WCW out of business and that eats away at him. He says Sting fails and that Sting is all about failure. Triple H says that he can give him his legacy back, doing business together. He says that he can put him into the WWE Hall of Fame and that he can live on through the WWE Network.
Triple says that they can do it the other way and he can beat his legacy out of him tonight. Sting punches Triple H a few times and then Triple H kicks away at him. Triple H grabs a sledgehammer, but Sting hits pokes his bat in his neck. Triple H drops the sledgehammer and Sting points to the WrestleMania sign. He hits Triple H in the stomach and then swings his bat around. He connects with the Scorpion Death Drop.
Silence can speak louder than words. Sting points to the sign and offers the challenge. I wanted to hear him speak. Why is he there? He needed to speak and he needed to state why he was there. We know, but we need to hear him. I was interested, but the crowd did not help and they could have made it so much more personal.
Sting’s entrance needs to be more. It needs to be a spectacle. Fix it.
