STARS IN PROGRESS: Rusev Crushes the Rumble, El Patron Steps Up Post-WWE Career, Royal Rumble Triple Threat & This Week’s Top 5 Superstars

 THE WEEKLY TOP 5

 5. Rusev

4. Bray Wyatt

3. John Cena

2. Seth Rollins – Mr. Money in the Bank

1. BROCK LESNAR – WWE Champion

This week’s list is largely the same as last week’s, but for very different reasons. Last week the Top 5 was made up of people I didn’t hate in a unbelievably boring WWE landscape. Those who earned a spot this week did so by retaining what makes them special, against WWE’s best attempts at ruining the second biggest pay-per-view of the year.

Brock Lesnar retains the #1 spot after a potential Match of the Year candidate, still your WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Seth Rollins stays at #2 and would have moved into the top spot after an incredible break-out performance on Sunday, if his competition was literally anyone else.

wwe live event resultsJohn Cena lost another title match, but got right back on the horse to kickoff a program with Rusev. John was also a part of that fantastic triple threat match, so we’ll give him a pass this week.

Bray Wyatt is the only person from last week to move up, after being the most dominant force in the Royal Rumble match. Or rather, the most dominant force that to not be a 7-foot bumbling pile of apathy.

Controversially, Roman Reigns may be the only person in history to win the Royal Rumble and fall OFF somebody’s list. If it were a Top 6 maybe he’d take the spot, but let’s face it – his approval rating has never been lower. Is that his fault? It’d put it 80/20 on the shoulders of WWE at this point. Still, it’s not my job to place blame, only to put guys on an arbitrary list based on my whims. Deal with it.

Rusev comes in at #5 this week, because Rusev.
