The Ballad of Ashley and Tammy

Ashley MassaroThat brings me to TNA. TNA says it wants to be a legit alternative to WWE. I’m guessing ex-WWE errand boy John Gaburick didn’t formulate that. His next creative thought will be his first.

One way to be “alternative” is to have a Knockouts Division based on work and angles, as opposed to being throwaway nonsense. The Knockouts are much better looking than WWE’s divas, and the in-ring talent is deeper.

Taryn Terrell is Penny from “The Big Bang Theory.” TNA should find her a Sheldon. Velvet Sky really has “it.” Gail Kim can GO. Brooke Adams has the best body of any woman in wrestling. DO SOMETHING WITH THEM.

Instead, the two big freaky women are going to stare at each other. Make no mistake, there’s a place for that.

I would really like to see the women used better. I’d like to see the results of them being psychoanalyzed, too. I’ve always been fascinated by the presence of women in fake wrestling’s boys’ club. The outlaw culture. If you dance with the devil, the devil doesn’t change. The devil changes you.

Two women outside WWE and TNA definitely deserve better.

One is Maria Kanellis. She’s a rarity: A gorgeous woman who bothered to learn the wrestling business, and got better at it. Not in-ring work, because that’s far from her strong suit. I’m talking about presence, promos, personality and psychology. That was always Sunny’s strong point, too: SHE GOT THE BUSINESS.

Wouldn’t it be good if WWE and/or TNA had more women performing that were good-looking AND knew what they were doing?

The second is ROH trainee Mandy Leon. She recently got some work as a Rosebud. She’s attractive and said to be athletic. Leon, in fact, is better-looking than all but 2-3 women currently working as Divas. If being a Diva is based first and foremost on looks, which it obviously is, then hire Mandy Leon. You can teach her everything else.

How the FRIG did Emma ever get on TV?

I haven’t mentioned the Bellas. They’re OK. OK-looking. OK as performers. Just OK. Their biggest talent is being twins.

The Bellas are WWE’s top Divas. That’s where the bar has been set.
