STEP UP: NEW DAY! And Some Other People…
Is it a major shock to anyone that The New Day hasn’t been effectively utilized in its first few months?
It’s obviously very early in their tenure as a team, but we are talking about KOFI KINGSTON – a guy that Vince McMahon hasn’t even tried to elevate in the eight years he’s been on television.
We’re talking about BIG E, a mammoth of a man, who had a ton of momentum working with guys like CM Punk and John Cena early in his run, only to get shoved back down the card for no discernible reason. I hate to be “that guy” that always blames Vince for everything, but E was booked well in NXT and it showed results.
XAVIER WOODS can talk. Woods can wrestle. The man is a PHD candidate. What’s that Mark Madden is always saying? The McMahons don’t like to keep people around that are smarter than them?
This might be controversial, but I don’t think Vince McMahon knows (or cares) how to book African-American talent in 2015. That’s OK – Vince barely knows (or cares) how to book white talent in 2015.
THAT BEING SAID, the trio went out of their way to steal the show on Main Event this week. Their match with Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Adam Rose was much better than it had any right to be, given how much the company seems to “care” about those six men. In fact, all six of them (Rose included) take a step up this week because of it. Go watch that spot where Cesaro and Kidd did Twin Magic – smooth as butter.
