Isenberg Reacts: WWE Raw “New Champions, Debuts and Main Eventers Return”

Champion vs. Champion

wwe rawDolph gets beaten down by Rusev with a big splash and then a few kicks to his stomach. Ziggler counters a slam with a Fameasser and Rusev looks very dazed. Rusev blocks a superkick and then misses a splash into the ring post. Ziggler hits a superkick for a two count. Rusev throws Ziggler a few times and then hits his injured knee. He tosses him into the steel post and begins to kick him over and over again. He continues to kick him and gets disqualified.

Rusev locks in The Accolade into the bottom rope. Ryback sprints down to the ring and unloads with a meathook clothesline.  He helps Ziggler up and the faces stand tall.

The match was really good, but I did not like how Dolph Ziggler was used tonight. The match was great, but he was used to get over another feud instead of trying to build a feud of his own.

The guy is so hot right now. Capitalize on the positives in Ziggler and not have his hot streak be cooled down by a mid card feud. He is more important right now than a mid card championship.

Ryback Talks From The Heart

Ryback cuts a promo about his life in professional wrestling and talks about what he has overcome. He talks about being cut from Tough Enough, an ankle surgery and his return. He ends by saying his feud is not about “Russia vs. USA” but more about a big guy against another big guy.

About time. We get some depth from Ryback. We get his story, a personal connection. This is something that was desperate for his development. I loved how they showed him as Skip Sheffield and Ryan Reeves. After 3 years, we really get insight on someone more than just a few powerful moves. You feel for a guy like that and don’t mind cheering for him because of what he continues to do to defy the odds.
